The myth of the hero Orpheus, whose music could tame nature and conquer death, finds its most powerful expression in Claudio Monteverdi’s Orfeo, the groundbreaking 1607 opera that helped launch the art form. Over four centuries later, its story of love and loss remains as moving as ever. This fully staged production features a cast of twelve singers, an orchestra playing many period instruments, and the luminous voice of Marc Mauillon in the title role.
