Harpsichordist Bruno Procopio joins forces with Montreal musicians to perform a masterpiece of 18th-century French chamber music: Jean-Philippe Rameau’s Pièces de clavecin en concerts.
Published in 1741, these five “concerts” combine with refinement the virtuosity of the solo harpsichord and the instrumental dialogue with the violin, flute and viola da gamba. Rameau, better known for his stage works, reveals a more intimate side of his art: musical portraits, tributes and evocations of sound, painted between tenderness and exuberance. This concert is a rare opportunity to hear this fascinating ensemble in its entirety, served up by a renowned harpsichordist and musicians from Montreal’s rich Baroque world. “For me, Rameau embodies the essence of a dialogue between man and nature. My dream is to bring Rameau’s legacy to a new light”. (Bruno Procopio).
