This one-time free event is a side-by-side seminar designed for classically-trained wind instrumentalists between the ages of 18 and 29 aspiring to an orchestral career. One participant per instrument (flute, oboe, clarinet, French horn and bassoon) will be selected.

PARTICIPANT SELECTION

Interested candidates must apply and be selected. Please contact Music Education Coordinator Kelly Symons to apply. The deadline for applications is April 7, 2020.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

THURSDAY MAY 21, 2020

  • 10:00 – 12:00: Orchestral reading session – five participants and five NAC Orchestra wind musicians
  • 14:00 – 15:30: Private lessons
  • 16:00 – 17:00: Participant quintet rehearsal and coaching session
  • 18:00 – 19:30: Panel discussion with wind faculty and Alexander Shelley, NAC Music Director

FRIDAY MAY 22, 2020

  • 10:00 – 11:00: Orchestral reading session
  • 11:00 – 12:00: Participant quintet rehearsal and coaching session
  • 12:00 – 13:30: Lunch and Performance Psychology presentation with Lara Deutsch (open to the public)
  • 13:30 – 15:30: Enescu dixtuor rehearsal – five participants and five NAC Orchestra wind musicians, conducted by Richard Hoenich
  • 16:00 – 17:00: Artist talk (open to the public)

SATURDAY MAY 23, 2020

  • 10:00 – 11:00: Private lessons
  • 11:00 – 12:00: Participant quintet rehearsal and coaching session
  • 13:30 – 15:00: Dress rehearsal
  • 19:30 – 20:30: PERFORMANCE – Enescu dixtuor and Nielsen Wind Quintet
  • Post-concert: Wine and cheese reception
