Formed in Israel in 1998 when its members were middle-school students, the Quartet was awarded the prestigious Cleveland Quartet Award in 2014. The Ariel is Faculty Quartet-in-Residence at the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music, where they give an annual series of concerts in addition to their busy international touring schedule.

This programme derives its title from the famous article Schumann wrote in 1853 heralding a new era with the arrival of then-unknown Brahms. The programme highlights the special relationship Schumann and Brahms shared, and looks back to Beethoven and forward to Webern.
