In the Innu language, Mishta Meshkenu means the Great Road, which refers to a road that stretches across Québec and one that Florent Vollant has travelled countless times: Route 138. Mishta Meshkenu is also a journey to the heart of First Nations culture, with a style that combines folk, country and Tex-Mex.
Florent Vollant sings delicate folk songs in Innu, using sparkling harmonies and refined melodies to transport listeners to a poetic universe imbued with boreal light. A prominent artist, a standard-bearer of Indigenous culture and a Compagnon des arts et des lettres du Québec since 2017, he continues to pursue a brilliant post-Kashtin solo career, with four albums in addition to his most recent, Mishta Meshkenu.
