Schubert and Paganini’s Guitar – “I am the master of the violin, but the guitar is my master,” Niccolò Paganini (1782-1840) is said to have remarked. The legendary Italian violin virtuoso shared his passion for the guitar with Franz Schubert (1797-1828). Joined by Jessy Dubé (violin), Sari Tsuji (viola), and Simon Desbiens (cello), Pascal Valois performs on the romantic guitar, inviting audiences on a musical journey with period instruments. This Romantic program ranges from Schubert’s masterful Arpeggione Sonata to Paganini’s dazzling Caprice No. 24, showcasing some of the most beautiful music for guitar by two of the great masters of the Romantic era. Discover the rich, expressive sound world of the 19th-century guitar in a concert that celebrates the artistry, virtuosity, and enduring legacy of Schubert and Paganini.
