Soprano Monique Pagé and organist Yves-G. Préfontaine invite audiences to discover captivating gems from the Italian repertoire of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. By turns lively, poetic, unexpected, and often surprising, these works promise a delightful afternoon in the company of celebrated composers-as well as others far less familiar, yet equally deserving of a place among the great masters of their time. The program features works by Antonio Vivaldi, Giovanni Battista Martini, Bernardo Storace, Salvatore, and several other Italian composers. It also includes music by Johann Sebastian Bach and Johann Gottfried Walther-two Germans, to be sure-who both borrowed magnificent pages from their Italian contemporaries and brilliantly transcribed them for the organ. A musical feast that is simply irresistible!
