Montreal, March 16, 2026 – Montreal-based company Piano Esmonde White will mark
a historic moment in the world of piano by unveiling to the public a world premiere: the
Esmonde White Action™, a major innovation that rethinks the relationship between the
pianist, touch and sound.
Developed after several years of research and experimentation, this revolutionary
mechanism enhances the responsiveness and sensitivity of the piano, offering
performers greater control and expressive possibilities. This technological breakthrough
now equips the new line of TUXEDO pianos, designed and developed in Quebec. For
the first time, a Quebec-designed patented mechanism stands ready to compete with the
world’s leading piano brands.
“This innovation has been years in the making. With the Esmonde White Action™, we
aim to push the boundaries of the instrument and offer pianists an entirely new playing
experience,” explains Oliver Esmonde-White, President and Founder of Piano
Esmonde White. Renowned virtuosos such as Alexandra Stréliski and Louis Lortie
have been eagerly awaiting the unveiling of this mechanism, which reimagines the
pianist’s playing technique.
A major celebration for World Piano Day
This innovation will be celebrated as part of World Piano Day, observed each year on the 88th day of the year, a tribute to the 88 keys of the piano.
To mark the occasion, Piano Esmonde White will present Piano Garage Band in
Montreal, a large-scale musical event bringing together more than twenty-five renowned
artists, emerging musicians and piano enthusiasts of all ages around this universal
instrument.
The event will transform this unique venue into a vibrant piano hub, hosting a series of
seven musical performances throughout the day. Legendary Montreal pianist Oliver
Jones will serve as honorary patron of the event. Gregory Charles and many amazing
artists will also take part in this unique celebration.
