L’Heptade is 50 years old!

The Chant de La Fontaine vocal ensemble pays tribute to the cult album of Quebec progressive rock by performing the complete L’Heptade by Harmonium, which will be 50 years old in 2026. The 45 choristers, conducted by Julie Beaulieu, will thrill you to the depths of your soul on this unique and memorable journey!
Les renaissances – Polyphonies en dialogue

The St. Lawrence Choir, guest conducted by Andrew Gray, will showcase the brilliance of European Renaissance polyphony (Byrd, Janequin, Pergolesi) and the purity of 19th- and 20th-century choral renaissance singing (Duruflé, Elgar, Saint-Saëns).

UQAM Choir
Good Friday Concert
April 3, 8 p.m., Saint-Jean-Baptiste Church
The Montreal Philharmonic Society and the UQAM Choir are joining forces to present the traditional Good Friday Grand Concert. This year, Mozart’s Requiem will be featured. Both ensembles will be conducted by Pascal Côté, artistic and musical director of the Montreal Philharmonic Society.

Dvořák’s Stabat Mater

Feb. 19, 7:30 p.m., the Grand Théâtre de Québec
The Quebec Symphony Orchestra and its choir, conducted by Clemens Schuldt, present Dvořák’s Stabat Mater with an all-Canadian cast: Sarah Dufresne (soprano), Allyson McHardy (mezzo-soprano), Eric Laporte (tenor) and Daniel Okulitch (bass-baritone). The work, in the tradition of the great Stabat Mater by Palestrina, Pergolesi and Rossini, is marked by Czech romanticism. Its emotional and spiritual intensity highlights Dvořák’s orchestral and vocal mastery.
Mozart’s Requiem
March 26 & 27, 7:30 p.m., Palais Montcalm
La Chapelle de Québec and Les Violons du Roy present Mozart’s Requiem, a nod to the recording made in September 2001 by the two ensembles. Accompanied by soprano Magali Simard-Galdès, mezzo-soprano Alex Hetherington, tenor Andrew Haji, and bass-baritone Kevin Deas, Bernard Labadie once again shares his profound vision of this legendary masterpiece.

The Ottawa Cantata Singers
May My Joy Remain
March 28, 7:30 p.m., Palais Montcalm
Le Coeur Les Rhapsodes and its conductor David Rompré present an all-Bach concert: the motet Lobet den Herrn, alle Heiden (BWV 230), the cantata BMW 78 Jesu, der du meine Seele, and the famous cantata BMW 147 Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben (Jesus, my joy remains). The choir will be accompanied by soprano Evelyne Larochelle, mezzo-soprano Luce Vachon, tenor Louis-Charles Gagnon, bass Michel Desbiens, and a 20-piece orchestra.

Four Directions
Feb. 7, at 7 p.m., St. Mary Magdalene Church
Viva Singers Toronto presents a concert featuring three Viva choirs—the Chamber Singers, the Chamber Youth Leadership Singers and the Community Choir—in an inspiring and unifying choral program. The repertoire will include works ranging from J.S. Bach to Andrew Balfour, Tyler Versluis and Caroline Shaw, linked by the themes of peace, reflection on nature and connection.

TMC: St Matthew Passion
March 24 & 25, 7 p.m., Koerner Hall, Telus Centre for Performance and Learning
The Toronto Mendelssohn Choir, conducted by Jean-Sébastien Vallée, presents Bach’s monumental and dramatic work, St Matthew Passion. The choir, accompanied by a baroque orchestra, will feature exceptional soloists Jonathon Adams (baritone), Isaiah Bell (tenor), Allyson McHardy (mezzo-soprano), Nicholas Nicolaidis (Evangelist), and Sherezade Panthaki (soprano) to bring this timeless work to life.

A Bach Celebration

Vivaldi Delights

The Ewashko Singers, conducted by Laurence Ewashko, present Vivaldi’s Gloria and Dixit Dominus. The ensemble will be accompanied by a chamber orchestra and five soloists: Ania Hejnar, Morgan Strickland, Sonya Sweeney, Philip Klaassen and Ryan Hofman.
Magnificat: Mary’s Song
March 22, 3 p.m., St. Joseph’s Church
The Ottawa Cantata Singers, led by Andrew McAnerney, explore the evolution of arrangements of the Magnificat, including those by Palestrina, Rachmaninov and Arvo Pärt. Commentary will provide historical context and background information on the composers and the text.
