Experience a world-class string quartet concert in Ottawa as the Paris-based, award-winning Quatuor Agate makes its Ottawa debut with an evening of gems from the chamber music repertoire. Named ECHO Rising Stars in 2023, this dynamic and accomplished quartet spent the 2024/25 season performing across many of Europe’s leading concert halls, including the Philharmonie de Paris, the Cologne Philharmonic, and Wigmore Hall.
For their first ever performance in the nation’s capital, the quartet offers a richly varied selection of string quartet masterworks: Mozart’s String Quartet No. 21, Haydn’s celebrated Quartet in E-flat Major, nicknamed “The Joke” for its playful wit, and Ravel’s sensuous and romantic String Quartet in F Major. They will close with Dinuk Wijeratne’s Quartet “The Disappearance of Lisa Gherardini,” for which they won The Canadian Commission Prize at the 2022 Banff International String Quartet Competition.
Moving seamlessly from wit to passion to courtly elegance, the quartet promises a sparkling evening of chamber music excellence.
