The Nicole Senécal Emerging Artist Award honours an outstanding graduating student from the University of Ottawa’s School of Music, poised to embark on a professional career. This year’s award recipient and student of David Jalbert, Eric Bouchard, offers an afternoon of romanticism both past and present. His programme journeys from the great 19th-century Romantics — including cornerstone works like Chopin’s Piano Sonata No. 3 and lesser-known gems like Variations on a Theme by Robert Schumann by Clara Schumann — to his own present-day compositions, paying homage to the velvety, expressive language of the Romantic era. Join us in celebrating this emerging talent whose star is on the rise.

This concert and this prize are presented with the generous support of Nicole Senécal, and in partnership with the University of Ottawa Music Department.

This concert is presented with the generous support of Steinway Piano Gallery Ottawa.
