Chamberfest is thrilled to welcome back 2022 Honens Laureate pianist Illia Ovcharenko. Amidst a demanding global touring schedule, the young Ukrainian talent takes time this evening to join Ironwood Quartet for an evening of Ukrainian and German Romantic repertoire.

Opening the program solo, Ovcharenko presents 5 Preludes by the esteemed Ukrainian composer Boris Lyatoshynsky. The beloved second movement of Beethoven’s 7th Symphony (in Liszt’s epic arrangement!) and Schumann’s Études – inspired by this same movement – follow, offering a compelling dialogue between two great composers. The evening culminates in Schumann’s energetic Piano Quintet in E-flat Major, a showcase of both virtuosic flair and deep musical artistry. A night of brilliance awaits!
