Montréal, August 4 2016 – Mr. David B. Sela, Chairman of the Board, announces the appointment of Mr. Simon Gamache as Executive Director of the Orchestre de chambre I Musici de Montréal. He will join I Musici in his new position as of September 19, 2016. Mr. Gamache will replace Mrs. Stéphanie Rose, who occupied the position for the past five years.
Mr. Gamache was involved in the Quebec musical scene for over a decade as a freelance musician (French horn) and teacher. He has been employed by the Banff Centre (Alberta) for the past six years where he oversaw professional training programs offered to more than 3.000 artists as well as an annual event series comprising more than a hundred concerts, talks and community events. He is currently responsible for the successful operations of classical music programs and of the Banff International String Quartet Competition, a globally respected event. Simon Gamache is a Fellow of Action Canada.
Throughout his time in office, Mr. Gamache will rely on his solid experience in managing human, financial and philanthropic resources as well as in organizing nationally and internationally recognized events. As Executive Director of I Musici, he will rely on his extensive Quebec, Canadian and international networks as well as on his managerial expertise with respect to educational programming and content dissemination experience.
