The registration period for the 2017 Stepping Stone has been extended to February 1st 2017

Musicians that wish to register for the Canadian Music Competition-Canimex’s professional component have until February 1st 2017 11:59 PM local time to do so. The Stepping Stone is a wonderful opportunity for Canadian musicians that want to pursue a career in classical music and wish to add a prestigious and educational experience to their curriculum.

At the vanguard of great competitions, the Canadian Music Competition-Canimex offers candidates a chance to live a unique experience through its Stepping Stone component. The preselection auditions for the 2017 Stepping Stone will be held in front of a jury prior the National Audition in every region (13) visited by the Competition. A candidate that tries to participate in the Stepping Stone will now live an enhanced experience by going through a process similar to that of a professional audition, thereupon strengthening the CMC’s formative nature.

The provisional dates for the National Audition, during which the Stepping Stone preselection auditions will be held, are as follow:

Vancouver: March 27th to 30th
Calgary and Edmonton: April 1st to 10th
Winnipeg: April 12th to 15th
Rimouski, Quebec, Saguenay, Trois-Rivières and Sherbrooke: April 18th to May 1st
Halifax: May 3rd
Toronto: May 5th to 16th
Ottawa: May 17th to 20th
Montreal: May 21st to June 3rd

Once the preselection process is over, 30 candidates will be chosen for the Stepping Stone which will be held in Ottawa-Gatineau from June 27th to July 5th 2017 (provisional dates). This competition is an excellent opportunity for candidates to measure themselves to their peers and to obtain prestigious prizes in the event of a First Place (Group Canimex $10 000 scholarship), Second Place ($5 000 scholarship) or Third Place ($2 500 scholarship). Furthermore, our artistic collaborators are offering additional prizes such as a three-week residency at the Banff Center for Arts and Creativity in 2018, an invitation as a guest soloist in the 2018-19 concert series of the Chapelle historique du Bon-Pasteur and a $5 000 career support scholarship offered by the Jeunesses Musicales Canada Foundation.The CMC would like to warmly thank the Canimex Group, official sponsor of this 2017 edition and partner for over 40 years.
