TORONTO (April 26, 2022) – Toronto Summer Music announced today details of the 2022 Festival, which returns to in-person performances and runs from July 7 to 30, 2022.
“We all have personal experiences of being inspired—whether it be through music, poetry, art; whether it be through a friend, mentor or an experience. It’s an incredibly human and deeply motivating moment that connects us to one another,” says Jonathan Crow, Artistic Director. “This summer, we have a fantastic lineup of Canadian and international artists that explores the thread of inspiration: both as it is found in the music of our past, but also in new music that will inspire for generations to come.”
Jonathan Crow continues: “This year, we’re especially excited to be returning to in-person performances. As a musician and as an audience member, I’m excited to be able to feel the energy of live music again.”
The 2022 TSM Festival showcases an outstanding group of artists including baritone Benjamin Appl performing with pianist Wolfram Rieger, Nicholas Namoradze, winner of the 2018 Honens International Piano Competition, soprano Karina Gauvin, and conductor Nicholas Ellis. The Festival also includes performances by cello duo VC2, the acclaimed Dover Quartet and New Orford String Quartet, the Gryphon Trio with Nordic Voices, and the world premiere of a concert opera by composer Afarin Mansouri.
In addition to the 26 mainstage concerts, the 2022 Toronto Summer Music Festival features a variety of free concerts and educational events; full details for free concerts and events will be announced in June.
