Montreal, January 25, 2022 — The OSM joins 6 other top international orchestras on the new streaming video platform Symphony.live : Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, The Cleveland Orchestra, Czech Philharmonic, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, Budapest Festival Orchestra (others to be announced soon). More than digital streaming of a concert captured live, its series Symphony Night Live (SNL) offers historical context and lively storytelling around the music, for a richer experience. It offers viewers exclusive interviews, behind the scenes, and unique content where one gets as close as one can possibly get to the music and the performers. This season, the OSM features in four SNL events, in a partnership extending for many years to come.

OSM’S FIRST SNL THIS SEASON AIRS JANUARY 28

Viewers will be treated to a top-quality video recording of the concert Barbara Hannigan and Berlioz’s Symphonie fantastique hosted by music media personality Frédéric Lambert. Convivial interviews and footage behind the scenes, from backstage into the floodlights, camera transition to the live stage with more fascinating commentary, and the artists’ live reactions as they exit the stage. Viewers also get a close-up of the various “rituals” OSM musicians must follow to prepare for performance, as Frédéric Lambert, microphone in hand, demystifies details of which audiences are not usually aware. Audience feedback at the concert recorded last December 10 completes this full immersion—as if one was right there and a part of it all!
