Montreal, November 3, 2025 – The Orchestre classique de Montréal (OCM) invites the public to a dazzling evening filled with passion and rhythm with the concert Sabor Latino, taking place on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. at Salle Pierre-Mercure.
Under the direction of conductor Jean-Marie Zeitouni, this captivating program pays tribute to the depth and diversity of Latin American music with a repertoire inspired by Mexico and Argentina, combining tango, lyricism and virtuosity. Two renowned Canadian soloists will join the Orchestra for the occasion: guitarist Adam Cicchillitti and bandoneonist Denis Plante.
A vibrant evening blending tradition and modernity
With Sabor Latino, the OCM continues its mission of highlighting the richness and diversity of Montreal’s communities, this time celebrating the contribution of Latin American cultures to the city’s artistic vitality.
The concert will spotlight two 20th century icons: Mexican composer Manuel Ponce, with his renowned Concierto del Sur, and the legendary Astor Piazzolla, master of nuevo tango, whose two tangos for strings and double concerto for guitar and bandoneon (Hommage à Liège) will transport the audience into the fiery soul of Buenos Aires.
True to its commitment to supporting Canadian artists, the OCM will also present Tango Boréal: Ciudad by composer and bandoneonist Denis Plante, as well as the world premieres of two works by Mexican-Canadian composer Luis Ramirez, Sola and Insidia, drawn from his Immigration Suite collection.
“Sabor Latino is a celebration of the vitality and sensuality of Latin American music, but also a bridge between cultures,” says Jean-Marie Zeitouni. “It’s a journey where guitar, bandoneon and orchestra speak the same language: the language of passion.”
The OCM is proud to present this concert in collaboration with the Consulate General of Argentina in Montreal, as part of its 2025–2026 season, which showcases the cultural diversity and talent of artists from here and abroad.
