Montreal, April 30, 2023 – Following a closely contested Semifinal, the names of the six finalists of the Violin edition of the Concours musical international de Montréal (CMIM) were announced this evening in Bourgie Hall. Emotions were palpable as the jury, chaired by Richard Rodzinski, revealed the results. The 12 semifinalists of Violin 2023 gave us an extremely high-level competition featuring a succession of memorable performances.
Since April 25, 24 violin virtuosos from 11 different countries have been vying to rise through the ranks of this prestigious Montreal competition.
Chaired by Richard Rodzinski, the international jury is comprised of: Koichiro Harada (Japan), Yura Lee (Korea/USA), Malcom Lowe (Canada), Mihaela Martin (Romania), Lucie Robert (Canada), Dmitry Sitkovetsky (United Kingdom/USA), and Krishna Thiagarajan (Germany/USA).
Here, in order of appearance, are the violinists selected for the Final:

Join us for the Final on May 3 and 4
The Final will take place at the Maison symphonique, where each finalist will perform a complete concerto of their choice with the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, the official orchestra of the CMIM, and its guest conductor, Rafael Payare.
The award winners will be announced at the conclusion of the second evening of the Final, on Thursday, May 4. Marie-Christine Trottier will host the closing ceremony.
Tickets to attend the Final are available from the Place des Arts box office.
Prizes and Awards
The winners of Violin 2023 will receive various prizes and engagements valued at over $160,000.

All rounds of the CMIM are webcast live and are available for listening on-demand at concoursmontreal.ca, as well as on The Violin Channel and Amadeus.tv.
On Monday, May 8 at 8 pm, the program Toute une musique, broadcast on ICI Musique, will present highlights of the 2023 Violin Edition.
