CHANGE OF JURY PRESIDENT

The Concours international de musique de Montréal (CMIM) announces a change in the presidency of the jury  for the 2023 Violin edition. It is with regret that we have learned that Mr. Zarin Mehta will not be able to be in  Montreal to preside over the international jury of Violin 2023 due to health reasons. We wish him a speedy  recovery.

We are most grateful to Mr. Richard Rodzinski (United States), a close friend and two-time former jury  member of the competition, who has agreed to undertake this important role on short notice. Richard Rodzinski  is a seasoned arts administrator who has held senior positions at the San Francisco Opera and the  Metropolitan Opera in New York. He later served as Executive Director of the Van Cliburn Competition for  more than 25 years. He has also directed several editions of the renowned Tchaikovsky Competition in  Moscow, and a few years ago, inaugurated the China International Music Competition in Beijing.

The seven voting members of the international jury remain: Salvatore Accardo (Italy), Koichiro Harada (Japan), Yura Lee (South Korea/United States), Mihaela Martin (Romania), Lucie Robert (Canada), Dmitri  Sitkovetsky (United Kingdom/United States), and Krishna Thiagarajan (Germany/United States).

The jury will listen to and evaluate the performances of the 24 young competitors invited to Montreal from April  25 to May 4.

THE AUDIENCE’S VOTE

Violin 2023 Edition

The ICI Musique Audience Prize, worth $5,000, will be awarded to the semifinalist who receives the most votes  from the audience. It will be possible to vote for your favourite competitor online, on the CMIM’s website, or at  the end of the performances when exiting the hall.

Mini Violini

The Mini Violini that receives the most votes from the audience will receive a $5,000 grant, offered in  collaboration with the Wicha Music Foundation.
