Montréal, February 1, 2024 The Concours musical international de Montréal (CMIM) is proud to unveil the names of the 24 competitors who will take part in the Piano 2024 edition, to be held in Montréal from May 5 to 16, 2024. These exceptional pianists, aged 19 to 29, hail from 12 different countries. Four Canadians are among the competitors, including one from Québec. These young artists will compete for the title of laureate and for prizes and grants worth more than $200,000 CAD.

The 24 competitors were selected from among 388 high-level applications representing 38 countries.

Since the creation of the Concours in 2001, this is the first time that so many candidates have expressed an interest in taking part. Once again, this record number of entries demonstrates the growing prominence and influence of the CMIM. – Chantal Poulin, Executive Director

JURY

The Piano 2024 international jury will be chaired by cultural manager Zarin Mehta who, along with jury members Dmitri Alexeev, Jan Jiracek von Arnim, Lydia Artymiw, Louise Bessette, Robert Levin, Hélène Mercier, Ronan O’Hora and Minsoo Sohn, will be tasked with judging the technical and artistic merit of the competitors.

ROUNDS

The First Round (May 5, 6 and 7) and Semifinal (May 10, 11 and 12) take place at Salle Bourgie. The Final (May 15 and 16) takes place at Maison symphonique, where competitors will be joined by the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal (OSM), the official orchestra of the CMIM. Finalists will have the privilege of performing under the baton of renowned Guest Conductor Xian Zhang.
