Montreal, April 22, 2022 – The Montreal International Music Competition (CMIM) is pleased to  unveil its competitors’ programmes for Voice 2022. Discover these programmes today via the  website.

STRATEGY FOR A WINNING PROGRAMME

From Handel to Bernstein, including works from Schubert and Brahms, our 32 Voice 2022 artists are undeniably strategic in the development of their competition programmes. Learn more about these programmes today. A good competition programme accurately calibrates the emotional dynamics of each piece, the level of difficulty and the showcasing of the competitors’ vocal qualities.

See how these programmes, without many imposed constraints, demonstrate the artistic personality  of each of our participants.

ART SONG DIVISION – ANDRÉ-BANCHAND AWARD

Nine of our Art Song participants chose to include a work by a Canadian composer in their semi final programme. Visit our website to discover them!

The André-Bachand Award, worth $2,000, will be awarded to the competitor in the Art Song division who offers the best interpretation of a Canadian work.

The CMIM would like to thank Mrs. Claudette Hould for her generosity in allowing us to award this prize to one of our singers.

ROUNDS

The first round of the competition will feature 32 vocal recitals with piano accompaniment, all held at  Bourgie Hall in Montreal’s Museum of Fine Arts. The CMIM’s international jury will audition all competitors from the Aria and Art Song divisions. ART SONG: The semi-final (six singers) and final  rounds (three singers) will also be held at Bourgie Hall. ARIA: The semi-final (ten singers) and final  rounds (five singers) will be held at the Maison symphonique with the Orchestre symphonique de  Montréal (OSM). This year’s competition will feature a total of 56 recitals, including 15 with orchestra.

INTERNATIONAL JURY

Zarin Mehta will preside over the international jury once again, bringing his skilled leadership to the  role. Jury members will evaluate each competitor’s performance in the Art Song and Aria divisions,  and will select the laureates and award winners of Voice 2022.

PRIZES

Once again, thanks to its generous partners and donors, the CMIM will be offering prizes and  scholarships totaling over $220,000 CAD to the laureates and winners.
