Montreal, March 20, 2024 – The Concours musical international de Montréal (CMIM) presents CMIM On the Road: a new partnership with concert presenters, inviting Quebecers to discover international pianists from the competition in performances outside of the regular competition framework. Earlier this year, 24 exceptional young classical pianists of the new generation, hailing from around the world, were selected by the CMIM. They will be welcomed to Montreal to present a recital program during the First Round on May 5, 6, and 7 at Bourgie Hall. Following this initial round, the 14 international competitors who do not advance will be invited to continue their musical journey outside of Montreal, showcasing the Semifinal programmes that they have worked so hard to prepare.

“The CMIM team is very excited to expand the reach of the competition elsewhere in Quebec and offer these new performances outside of its usual venues. It’s a unique opportunity for competitors to extend this enriching experience, to practice their art, and to share their talent with new audiences.”Chantal Poulin, Executive Director of the CMIM

With the CMIM On the Road, Everyone Wins

The reality of an international competition is unforgiving. This is why the CMIM finds it essential to give everyone the chance to benefit from an unforgettable experience, even for those who do not advance beyond the First Round. Therefore, the Competition has partnered with local presenters outside the island of Montreal, allowing the 14 eliminated pianists to showcase their Semifinal program to different audiences. Everyone stands to gain from this initiative, including the competitors, presenters, audiences, and the Competition itself, which now has an even richer and more accessible program for everyone!
