Twenty-four young violinists dazzled us with their talent, their virtuosity, and their musical artistry, over the course of the First Round of the 2023 Violin Edition of the Concours musical international de Montréal (CMIM), which took place on April 25, 26, and 27. Following the conclusion of this first stage of the competition, the jury has selected twelve Semifinalists.
Here are the 12 violinists selected for the Semifinal, in order of appearance:

The Semifinal, presented by the Wicha Music Foundation, will be held on April 29 and 30, in both afternoon (2 pm) and the evening (7:30 pm) sessions at Bourgie Hall at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. Preceding the first Semifinal, Canadian composer Luna Pearl Woolf will be featured in a pre-concert talk about her new work which will be performed by each of the Semifinalists.

THE AUDIENCE’S VOTE
It will be possible to vote for your favourite competitor!The ICI Musique Audience Prize, worth $5,000, will be awarded to the violinist who has performed in at least the Semifinal and has received the most votes. It will be possible to vote for your favourite competitor online, on the CMIM website, or at the end of the performances when exiting the hall.
