Montréal, Sept. 7th, 2021 – Since the beginning of the pandemic, duos of singers and instrumentalists performed with Mécénat Musica: Mini-Opéras Santé & Mini-Concerts Santé delivered 9,000 free « door-to-door» outdoor concerts to 70,000 children, adolescents, elderly, adults, and families suffering from isolation, loneliness and psychological distress, on 1000+ streets in 100+ cities, boroughs and regions across Montréal, Québec and Canada. In 2021 musicians from Québec performed in all 10 Canadian provinces. There have been 3,000+ hires of professional singers and musicians, who perform with 184 different classical music organizations. With prearranged itineraries, musicians offer surprise 10-minute Mini-Opéras Santé & Mini-Concerts Santé, always staying outdoors on the sidewalk. Residents stay in their doorway, or simply open a window from multi-storey, multi-family dwellings.
Mini-Opéras Santé & Mini-Concerts Santé have been funded by the generosity of 10 Mécénat Musica donor individuals, Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, Fondation Lucie et André Chagnon, Government du Québec Secrétariat à la région métropolitaine du ministère des Affaires municipales et de l’Habitation, Canada Council for the Arts, Ensemble Caprice, Ensemble vocal Arts-Québec, Conseil des arts de Montréal, Molson Foundation, R. Howard Webster Foundation, Foundation of Greater Montreal, the borough of Ville-Marie, La SAMS, CIUSSS West-Central Montreal Users’ Committee, and Jewish Community Foundation of Montreal.
Music delivery to the door is a social and community innovation created during the pandemic to reduce its impact on the psychological, social, and mental health of all members of our communities by helping to lift local community’s spirits through music. Mécénat Musica: Mini-Opéras Santé & Mini-Concerts Santé are initiatives of Matthias Maute, Ensemble Caprice, Ensemble vocal Arts-Québec, Concerts noncerto, Mécénat Marchand and Mécénat Musica.

During the pandemic, Mécénat Musica has launched several health, music, and community initiatives to reduce the impact of this unparalleled crisis on the psychological, social, and mental health of communities, including Mécénat Musica: Mini-Opéras Santé, Mini-Concerts Santé (Prix Opus Événement musical de l’année 2020), Artist in residence, Music for Hope, Mini-Galas Santé, and Prix 3 Femmes – dedicated to developing new operas by emerging women Canadian composers and librettists.
