Montreal, June 23 2021 – It is with great enthusiasm that the musicians of the chamber orchestra I Musici de Montréal take over the Maison symphonique to put the finishing touches on their latest album.

For I Musici de Montréal, this 38th album is the first to be released in 10 years and is also the first to be produced under the direction of Jean-Marie Zeitouni.

“We are delighted to see this project come to life thanks to the exceptional contribution of our valued donators, Ms. Brodeur, Ms. Caron and Mr. Sela. Coming back to this recording tradition immortalizes the evolution of the ensemble over all these years. The pieces played highlight the virtuosity that inhabits each musician in the group.” says Marisol de Santis, Executive Director of I Musici de Montréal.

Indeed, the recorded work, Metamorphosen by Richard Strauss, highlights each of the instrumentalists on stage as it is an important study for 23 soloists. This piece, composed in response to the ravages of the Second World War, will coexist on the disc, signed ATMA Classique, alongside Arvo Pärt’s Symphony No. 4, recorded for the same occasion in January 2020.

“All the conditions are right for the birth of an album of great quality. We work alongside highly skilled musicians who have been playing together for a very long time. Their exceptional level of listening and connection is combined with the acoustic qualities of a more than renowned venue. We look forward to presenting the finished product.” explains Guillaume Lombart, president of ATMA Classique.

The album will begin postproduction in the fall and should be released on all web platforms in the first weeks of 2022. Founded in 1983 by Yuli Turovsky, I Musici de Montréal Chamber Orchestra is made up of 15 exceptional musicians whose varied repertoire spans from the 17th century to today. For the interpretation of Strauss’s piece, guest musicians very close to the regular ensemble join the team to demonstrate all the precision and intensity of this mature and sensitive musical formation.
