Montreal, May 17th, 2022 – Concert en clavecin is proud to announce the last concert of its season on June 7th at 7:30 p.m. at the Chapelle Notre-Dame-de-Bon-Secours in Old Montreal. The flute enjoyed a golden age in the 18th century. In Germany, the passion of Frederick II, King of Prussia, contributed greatly to this. Not only did he play it on the battlefields, but Berlin gathered a phalanx of musicians who made the most of the expressive qualities of the royal instrument. Among them, in a style that would be described as “sensitive,” Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach, the king’s accompanist at court, made it dialogue with the harpsichord in equal measure.

Program (in one part):

  • Flute Sonata in E-flat major, BWV 1031, H. 545
  • Flute Sonata in G minor, BWV 1020 (attributed to C.P.E. Bach, H. 542.5)
  • Sonata for flute in D major, Wq. 83, H. 505
  • Sonata for flute in E major, Wq. 84, H. 506

Grégoire Jeay specializes in the playing and repertoire of the baroque transverse flute. He performs regularly in concerts in Quebec and Canada.
