Québec City – April 19, 2024. The return of sunny days heralds the return of Le Printemps de la musique! On May 18 and 19 across Old Quebec, the great musical event will delight curious people and music lovers with around twenty concerts and a host of new releases marking this extensive ninth edition. In addition to the family activities at the Quartier général and the Outdoor concerts, which are completely free, different revisited routes and concerts with engaging concepts make up the program.

More than 130 artists from Quebec and the surrounding area will bring the event to life, particularly with the musical courses, which are reinventing themselves! On the one hand, the “Grands Parcours” invite the public to discover concert music in the grandiose and emblematic settings of Old Quebec. Celtic, ancient and chamber music as well as piano recitals will resonate in these sublime spaces which bear witness to the richness of our history. On the other hand, the Intimate Journeys are an incredible opportunity to encounter explosive musical offerings. Unique in their kind, they take place within heritage places never used by the festival before. While wandering through Old Quebec, music lovers will see short concerts of current, traditional and experimental music or even musical improvisation. A new ticketing concept also marks this ninth edition of Printemps de la musique: the “Grand Parcours” and the “Parcours Intimes” will be accessible thanks to passes and tickets sold individually, which guarantee a place for indoor concerts. Both types of courses take place with 3 departures per day and offer 3 short 30-minute concerts.
In addition to offering a very varied program, the outdoor concerts are completely free. Two concerts per day will take visitors to the Dufferin terrace, Montmorency park and Esplanade park – even the legendary gardens of the Ursulines Monastery will open their doors for a day! Choral singing, traditional music, opera and military music: the public is invited to be surprised by the beauty of enchanting settings, spring… and music.

Big news for 2024, the Experience concerts are a unique chance to attend performances in exceptional places and contexts. They will provide festival-goers with an extraordinary sensory immersion, plunging into the heart of our musical, historical and gastronomic heritage. A musical guided tour of the Forts-et-Châteaux-Saint-Louis and a musical brunch at the Cercle de la Garrison are on the program!
Established in the gardens of the Hôtel-de-Ville, the Quartier général serves as the gateway to the Printemps de la musique and will delight passers-by and families with its completely free programming.
Grandiose, surprising and generous, the ninth edition of Printemps de la musique invites the population of Quebec to celebrate the new season on May 18 and 19, 2024!
