FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Montreal, July 29, 2013
La Scena Musicale (LSM) is excited to announce our 18th year of publishing for the 2013-14 season! Once again, LSM brings you seven issues filled with everything you want to know about classical music, jazz and the arts in Montreal, Quebec, and Canada.
This year, LSM will publish four issues with separate English and French editions in September, October, November, and June-July-August. Distribution will once again be extended to Ottawa and Quebec City for these editions with 5000 copies in each market, with the November and summer issues distributed across Canada, with 22,500 copies in each language for a total run of 45,000 copies. LSM will publish three bilingual issues in December-January, February-March, and April-May. Each bilingual edition will have a total run of 22,500 copies. For all issues, at least 500 copies will be distributed in Toronto, with the National issues being distributed at 5000 copies in that market.
In August, LSM publishes the bilingual Arts Resource Guide (formerly the Arts Directory) with a run of 25,000 copies. New this year is a separate guide to Performing and Visual Arts Venues in additional our annual Choir Guide. This handy little digest-format guide is your key to finding any and every business to cater to your musical and artistic needs, whether that’s an agent to represent you, a rehearsal or performance space, a choir to sing in, a teacher for private lessons, or a club of like-minded amateurs. Keep your Arts Resource Guide and refer to it all year long!
Our September issue features Quebec composer Denis Gougeon on the cover. A new cultural season means a whole new lineup of concerts and events to explore, and our staff picks for la rentrée culturelle/Fall Preview will help you choose the events (classical music, jazz, dance, theatre, visual arts and film) you just can’t miss. Our first annual Guide to Fall Festivals will appear in this issue. The La SCENA Arts Xpress section will become a regular feature this year. Looking into a season subscription? See our subscription guide to know what’s going on this year and who will have your must-see performances! And parents will want to see our Guide to Primary and Secondary Music Education to start thinking about next year’s back-to-school options.
Autumn continues with Composer Mania. In October and November, composers of national prominence and international renown, will be featured on our English and French edition covers. Rising stars will be featured in October with profiles of recent competition winners as well as our annual Competition Guide. Budding musicians won’t want to miss our Guides to Higher Music Education; the November issue will be distributed in schools across Canada.
All year long, you can look forward to LSM’s regular features, including our extensive concert listings, important news in the classical music and fine arts world, what’s new and exciting on the local and worldwide jazz scenes, and reviews of the latest and greatest classical CDs. Our guides to education, competitions, summer camps and festivals are sure to be of use whether you are a rising virtuoso or simply a devoted music lover.
Enjoy La Scena Musicale’s new season as you enjoy the new cultural season!
