In early January the Conservatoire de musique de la Montérégie (CMM) launched its new website under the theme “finding joy in music.” A monthly newsletter will follow. Internet users will be able to subscribe with a click. These multiplatform communication tools will inform and maintain contact with participants and the general public.
Founded in 2003 by general and artistic director Marie-Anne Rozankovic, the CMM is devoted to education and the promotion of the performing arts. To pursue this mission, the CMM will offer online courses until the school can resume courses on site.
Teaching in a hybrid form makes it possible to maintain continuity of teaching without interruption for the remainder of the season. In addition, the CMM fulfills its performance commitments via webcasting. The Orchestre du Conservatoire de la Montérégie, in residence at the École de musique Vincent-d’Indy, played its first concert last December, under the direction of Nicolas Ellis, and in collaboration with choreographer Anne Dryburgh from the École supérieure de ballet du Quebec. For the occasion, Benjamin Seah, winner of the 2020 OSCM concerto competition, brilliantly performed Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 4, offered by Vimeo on the CMM en diffusion channel.
Webcasting provides access to music and the performing arts to a greater number of music lovers while supporting music education and fostering the excellence of the orchestra.
Performances will be offered throughout the year. The CMM’s new recording studio will be launched on Feb. 14 under the theme Pour l’amour de la musique. Also, to honour Mozart, the orchestra will end its season with soloists in works by this musical genius.
Service is available year-round: After concluding its season in June, the Conservatoire de musique de la Montérégie will operate a music camp for young people, in two sessions, July and August 2021.
