For its 4th edition, the Orchestre symphonique de Laval invites you to its Winter Classical Festival, a three-day musical marathon to warm hearts and minds during the cold season. Organized by the Société de musique contemporaine du Québec (SMCQ), the 12th edition of the Montreal/New Musics international festival, which runs from February 14 to March 2, 2025 with the theme “music and images”, explores various forms of relationships between musical creation and images, whether still or animated, realistic or abstract, analog or digital. The 12th edition of The Royal Conservatory’s 21C Music Festival kicks off in January 2025 with Grammy Award-winning Imani Winds and pianist Michelle Cann, performing Poulenc’s Sextet and Canadian premieres by Valerie Coleman and Viet Cuong, followed by the North American premiere of Bernard Foccroulle’s The Journal of Hélène Berr. Canadian soprano Measha Brueggergosman-Lee, the Hannaford Street Silver Band, and the Aaron Davis Trio will perform Davis’s “Zombie Blizzard,” a song cycle based on Margaret Atwood’s 2020 poetry book, “Dearly.” The festival closes with Grammy winner Bruce Hornsby who returns to Koerner Hall with genre-bending ensemble yMusic for a night of innovation.
