Mozart’s final concerto—and one of the last of all his works—the Clarinet Concerto is a haunting, soulful piece. The mellow tones of the clarinet were the perfect medium to express his late-life emotions, including his dismay at the ill health of his deeply cherished wife, Constanze. Rob Kapilow and the TSO’s distinguished Principal Clarinet first take you to the piece’s heart; then they perform it, complete. Pictured: Rob Kapilow.
