The 10th edition of the MNM and the scope keeps on expanding for one of the largest contemporary music festivals in the continent! To celebrate its longevity, the SMCQ offers a grand concert at the Maison Symphonique with some major works from its repertoire. Ligeti’s imposing Volumina flirts with the infinite sound possibilities offered by the organ, played in an unusual manner. Three works by local composers underline the diversity of the musical colours of our creators. Such as Amuya (Inuit for snow), composed by Serge Garant for Expo 67; Gilles Tremblay’s Musique du feu, which brought Quebec music to the forefront;and Ana Sokolović’s Jeu des portraits, drawing together music from here and abroad.
