In Person and Online – A concert highlighting women composers and hoping for a better future. Laurie Evan Fraser conducts the 35-voice mixed choir and its accomplished Latin ensemble Cantemos, with pianist Hye Won Cecilia Lee. The program ranges from 12th century Gregorian chant to Renaissance madrigals, choral works inspired by the folk rhythms of Venezuela and Argentina, and celebratory works by living composers in the U.S. and Canada. Highlights include Dr. Rosephanye Powell: To Sit and Dream (to poetry by Langston Hughes); Sarah Quartel: Snow Angel; Hildegard von Bingen, arr. By Carlotta Ferrari: O splendidissima gemma; songs by South American composers Modesta Bor (Venezuela) and Liliana Cangiano (Argentina).
IN PERSON: Fifty in-person tickets @$25 are available for sale to fully vaccinated people aged 12 and up, on a first-come basis. Available from Eventbrite.
