Undoubtedly one of the most popular forms in Early Music, the madrigal was perhaps the prime musical expression of the Italian Renaissance and the basis of much of what was to emerge. Firing the imaginations of composers and poets alike, the madrigal broke from its medieval model to embrace a wide range of artistic aspirations and forces. Join us for a musical grand tour of this delightful repertoire. From raucous fa-la-la’s to accompanied settings of sublime texts, this concert will transport you. Whether you come for an enchanting night out or to deepen your love of the repertoire, Madrigal Mania will leave you humming.
