Ingmar Bergman’s production of Die Zauberflöte is unanimously considered the greatest masterpiece of film-opera.
By tightening the action, modifying a few dialogues and reversing the order of certain scenes, the Swedish filmmaker has brilliantly appropriated the Mozartian masterpiece. His staging and image, which unfold in different spaces (theatrical stage, backstage, film studio, exteriors), presents an original vision, but always respectful of the spirit of Mozart.
