Virtuoso pianist Dmitri Levkovich joins Sinfonia Toronto to celebrate Mozart’s birthday with his Piano Concerto No. 23 on January 26 at the Trinity St-Paul’s Centre. Under the baton of Music Director Nurhan Arman, the orchestra welcomes winter with Ballade: A Winter’s Tale by iconic composer Jean Coulthard, one of the first Canadian female composers and one of the first west coast composers to gain international recognition. The program also continues the celebration of the orchestra’s 25th Anniversary with the world premiere of In Festive Commemoration by Canadian composer Kevork Andonian, and a joyous finale – Leoš Janáček’s Idyll for Strings. Composed to celebrate the birth of his daughter, the Idyll evokes love, happiness and warmth in Romantic folk themes.
