Quebec chorographer Hélène Simoneau has made a mark in the United States with her highly personal, athletic and fluid style, exploring themes of intimacy, agency, identity, sexuality and power. Delicate Power, a work for nine performers, examines the different ways we yield, share or maintain power through the body and voice.
A Montrealer by adoption, Andrew Skeels signed his first piece for the Nederlands Dans Theater this year, in addition to collaborating with Les Grands Ballets and Cirque du Soleil. His subtle and sophisticated choreographic language is nourished by an insatiable curiosity, a great humanism and a love of dance in all its forms. Premiering at FASS, Past Rooms is a sumptuous creation for seven dancers, a deeply moving dreamlike reflection on absence.
