La majorité de la musique de la cantate Davide penitente de Mozart est dérivée de l’inachevée Messe en do mineur composée deux ans plus tôt, bien que deux airs et une cadence au dernier mouvement ont été nouvellement composés pour l’oeuvre. Vous entendrez aussi deux oeuvres du compositeur québécois Auguste Descarries, dont Aubade écrite pour piano et spécialement orchestrée pour le MCO par Aleksey Shegolev. Enfin, parmi les compositions les plus achevées du répertoire classique, le Requiem de Mozart saura apaiser votre âme. Cette fin glorieuse de la 78e saison du MCO vous laissera dans l’attente soutenue de la suivante!

Most of the music of Mozart’s cantata Davide penitente is derived from the unfinished Mass in C minor written two years earlier, although two arias and a cadenza for the last movement were newly composed for the work. In this concert, you will also have the pleasure to hear two works from Quebec composer Auguste Descarries, as Fantaisie written for string quartet and especially orchestrated for the MCO by François Vallières. At last, among the most uplifting compositions of the classical repertoire, Mozart’s Requiem will soothe and refresh your soul. This will be a glorious end to the MCO’s 78thseason that will leave you in heightened expectation for the 79th.
