Preserving History through Music with Violins of Hope.
Join us for an unforgettable evening as the Violins of Hope come to life for the first time ever in Toronto. On this special night, the Canadian Opera Company Orchestra will perform using meticulously restored violins that once belonged to Jewish musicians during the Holocaust. These extraordinary instruments, each with its own story of survival, will offer the audience a powerful connection to the past.
Immerse yourself in a moving musical experience that captures the essence of hope, resistance, resilience, and unity. As the orchestra brings these historic violins back to their full glory, you’ll be transported through a poignant journey of survival and strength.
The night will also feature Cantor Netanel Hershtik from Hampton Synagogue . He has been widely recognized as one of the pre-eminent cantorial talents in the world of Jewish music today. Cantor Hershtik was the first cantor invited to perform a cantorial concert at the Berlin Philharmonic concert hall and Kennedy Center, Washington DC. Netanel was also the first cantor to be invited to perform at the U.N. in a Holocaust remembrance ceremony in 2006.
This unique event not only honours the memory of those who endured but also inspires a new generation. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to witness history thought music.
