It is with great pleasure that the Cantata Singers of Ottawa invite you to our first concert of the year, and our first performance as a group since December 2019. The last two years have been a hard time for music-making, and although we’re not quite back to normal, we are thrilled to present a work we hope will lift the spirits and soothe the tired soul.
On November 13, 2021, the CSO will perform Rachmaninoff’s choral masterpiece: the Vespers (All-night Vigil, Op. 37). This musical and spiritual journey represents the culmination of a revival of interest in the Russian Orthodox Church music in the late 19th century. The movements are settings of the texts for the evening office of divine worship.
All CSO concert venues are following the current guidance of Ottawa Public Health regarding vaccination, masking and physical distancing. Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and appropriate identification will be required. Tickets are limited, and available at www.cantatasingersottawa.ca. No tickets are available at the door.
