During 2017, the National Youth Orchestra of Canada will embark on the most historic milestone event in its history.
As our nation celebrates the 150th anniversary of Confederation in 2017, the National Youth Orchestra has been hand-picked – as one of a select group of just 40 carefully chosen organizations – to design, lead, and execute one of the most prestigious and high-profile signature events in the sesquicentennial.
During July and August 2017, we will mount a magnificent, high-visibility pan-Canadian tour – The Edges of Canada Tour – which will see specially-commissioned works performed in Canadian cities coast to coast to coast. In select cities, our orchestra will join hands with some of Canada’s most high-profile multi-indigenous artists to prepare a youth-oriented response to Truth & Reconciliation. This special component includes an integral, multi-arts performance including spoken word, film, and multimedia, and will be performed only in selected cities. In other cities, we will include a special partnership with the National Youth Choir.
