As the Napoleonic Wars raged outside his door in Vienna, Beethoven composed his “Emperor” Concerto, a mighty work for piano and orchestra in which the composer transcends the violence surrounding him with music of heroism and joy. Lang Lang—the superstar Chinese pianist who makes “every musical gesture come to life” (Los Angeles Times)—joins forces with Music Director Alexander Shelley and the NAC Orchestra for what promises to be a powerhouse performance.
