Ensemble vocal Arts-Québec (professional choir) offers a concert with strikingly beautiful and witty choral music from the classical period with possible inclusion of both amateur singers (workshop) as well as singing audience. W.A. Mozart’s motet Ave verum has become one of his most famous compositions. Composed in 1791, the year of his death, the Ave verum seduces us with its depth of expression and sincere simplicity. Sacrilege or stroke of genius? Composer and Kapellmeister Gottlob Benedict Bierey (1772 – 1840) orchestrated the 1st movement of Beethoven’s famous Moonlight Sonata by adding a four-part choral part to the text of the Ordinary’s Kyrie in Latin.
