New York-based vocal ensemble Ekmeles invites us into the intimate setting of UQAM’s Agora Hydro-Québec, bringing us on a musical journey through exterior and interior images from the real and imaginary past, through the evocative power of music and the inherent beauty of its graphic representations.
The concert features Canadian works using science-fiction imagery (Taylor Brook), graphic scores made from necklaces (Charlotte Mundy), papyrus artefacts containing fragments of the Greek poet Sappho (Zosha di Castri) and video, combined with live electronics (Corie Rose Soumah). An evening rich in its diverse approaches and inspirations, promising to be striking and fascinating.
