The Orchestre national de jazz de Montréal is delighted to welcome for the first time Japanese conductor and composer Miho Hazama for a concert of her own works, as well as arrangements of works by Maria Schneider, Toshiko Akiyoshi, Camila Meza and others. Grammy-nominated Miho Hazama is one of the most promising and talented composers and arrangers of her generation. Considered by Downbeat as one of the « 25 for the future ». In 2019, Miho became conductor of the Danish Radio Big Band (DR Big Band, DK) after Thad Jones, Bob Brookmeyer and Jim McNeely, to name but a few. Miho released the DR Big Band’s first album, « Imaginary Visions », in 2021. Miho also became permanent guest conductor of the Metropole Orkest in 2020. Composition is an integral part of her vocation and, in addition to her work with her group, m_unit, she has created works for many different musical contexts. In 2019, she becomes composer-in-residence of the Siena Wind Orchestra (JP) and receives the Composer of the Year award from Orchestra Ensemble.
