Raoul Cyr, musical director of the R.C. Jazz Ensemble (bigband) was able to surround this new project with a “fire line-up”; indeed, the six musicians who make up the band all align an impressive roadmap. He offers us this time the rereading of a pivotal era in the history of Jazz: Hard bop. This musical trend is characterized by a more dynamic jazz resulting from the fusion of bop, gospel and blues, which makes it a “groovy” music that has nothing “hard” contrary to what its name suggests.
