A small ensemble with a theatrical vocation, Au gré des chants is composed in 2025 of three female voices, three male voices, a professional collaborator pianist and a general and artistic director. Drawing on various popular and classical genres, its repertoire is interpreted without amplification. A live staging embellished with some accessories supports the purpose of each show. Fourth production of the ensemble, Au fil des jours is inspired by the song of the same title by Gilles Vigneault. The show speaks of the threads that weave and unravel in life: those of our friendships and those of our faithful loves, lost or impossible, those of our vivid or fleeting memories, as well as those of our dreams “which remain forever”. The solos make up most of the programme which also includes some duets and multi-voice singing. To the tune of the songs invites you to listen to the words of Shakespeare, Victor Hugo, Jacques Prévert, Michel Rivard and those of many other poets and lyricists; words set to music by so many famous composers, words of love that as Vigneault says so well “weave life” over the days.
