Discoveries Vol. 7 is hosted and curated by Jesse Ryan, a Trinidadian born, JUNO nominated saxophonist and leader of the The Kaiso Street Legacy Ensemble, whose main focus is presenting fresh arrangements of music from the golden age of calypso, re-imagined through the lens of modern jazz. Rooted in storytelling and cultural preservation, the group bridges eras of Caribbean creativity through dynamic performances and musical excellence. Their current project reimagines the groundbreaking Caribana ’67 concert – Toronto’s first major Calypso showcase held on Centre Island – bringing new life to the sounds that helped shape the city’s cultural identity.
