These words alone could sum up the band’s art and style.
Like a ferryman of dreams freed from codes, Taqsim Driver builds an imaginary bridge between tradition and modernity. Drawing inspiration from rare and ancestral music (Lebanese dabké, Albanian tallava or Azeri mugham…), adding samples of traditional instruments (derbuka, kerkabou, saz…) Taqsim Driver rekindles the flame of this music and brings it back to life in a subtle fusion with contemporary music (Dance, Trap, Rap…).
An infectious, telluric energy that’s a cross between Omar Souleyman, 47Soul and countless wedding bands on the cusp of old Europe. From continent to continent, the band invites you to travel and discover in an energetic, joyful trance.
Created by the musicians of Fanfare Couche-Tard, who toured for 15 years in Europe, India, Morocco and South Africa, Taqsim Driver releases its first videos and singles in 2023, and embarks on a tour of Canada and Europe in spring 2024
