Young musician, avid amateur, seasoned pro, or enthusiastic concert attendee, you won’t want to miss the fun as Grammy-winning violinist James Ehnes and a host of local string-player celebrities lead this mass ensemble in a unique, participatory concert experience. Composed by award-winning Canadian composer John Oswald, Spectre was commissioned by the Kronos Quartet in 1990. The work combines live quartet with multi-layered overdub, creating the illusion of a 1000-piece string orchestra. With #1000Strings, the community joins forces with Carol Gimbel’s Music in the Barns ensemble to make that illusion a reality.
